About Kingwood Stud

KINGWOOD STUD HISTORY

Kingwood Stud was founded in 1924 by Captain Ossie Bell and Sir Hugo Cunliffe Owen. Many top class racehorses have been bred and reared at Kingwood including FELSTEAD who won the 1928 Derby in record time; ROCKFEL who won the 1938 1000 Guineas, Oaks and Champion Stakes and OUTCROP who won the Yorkshire Oaks and Park Hill Stakes.

Fiona Marner took over the management of Kingwood Stud in 1985 and since then we have produced the winners of 34 Group races and 25 Stakes races, from very small outlays. These black type winners include GALLIC LEAGUE, ROCK CITY, ELBIO, GOLDEN SILCA, CAP JULUCA, CRAGGANMORE, GREEN MANALISHI, FRENCH HOLLY, HOH CHI MIN, KALINDI, LOVE EVERLASTING, GREEN EYED LADY, MAJESTIC MISSILE, MAC LOVE, LOREDO SOUND, REGAL REVOLUTION, MELROSE AVENUE, ANTIOQUIA, ABIGAIL PETT, AJIGOLO, ROYAL SHAKESPEARE and SILCA’S SISTER.
